Leadership is an important attribute to the women of Kappa Kappa Gamma, which is why D.U. Lead is an extraordinary program affiliated with the Gamma Omega Chapter that allows the sorority to share this quality with the rest of Denison University.
D.U. Lead is a one-day leadership institute for underclassmen that about 60 Denison freshmen and sophomores attend at the Bryn Du mansion in September. D.U. Lead is unique in the fact that it is a leadership day specifically for the Denison lifestyle. Not only did the curriculum include information on general leadership skills(adopted from "The Leadership Challenge" by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner), but a significant component was based on how to apply these skills to life at Denison. Through this program, the participants not only gained general skills of leadership within a group and individually, but they also learned about the system at Denison, and how to use it to their organization's advantage.
Next year's DU Lead is scheduled for the 29th of September, 2007.
DU Lead was created by a planning team comprised of members of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Beta Theta Pi, the Student Activities Office, and Career Services.
